Start of the session

Welcome back to the new session. Milngavie PrimaryWe hope you had an enjoyable summer break – weather aside!

We would like to say a special hello to our new Primary 1s. They are already settling well into their new school routines.

We would also like to extend a warm welcome our new teachers for this session, Miss Graham, Miss MacLeod and Miss Robertson.

Uniforms It is wonderful to see so many children wearing our school uniform. Remember it is not crucial that you purchase from the school supplier, as we appreciate that this can be expensive. We ask that you do adopt the school colours, however, as this helps us to quickly identify children who are from Milngavie Primary School, making it easier to keep children safe – particularly if we are out of school.

Outdoor learning is a feature of our curriculum so please do encourage your children to bring appropriate clothing with them to school each day.

REMEMBER, if you were entitled to free school meals you should also apply for a clothing grant. A form can be obtained from the school office. (Although P1-3 do not pay for lunches, if you are eligible you should still apply for a grant).

Primary 1: if you were unable to attend our P1 introductory workshop but have any questions, please do get in touch with us and we will do our utmost to help. If this is your first child attending school, we know how daunting it can all be to get used to all of the new routines. School Meals: We will advise you of the new menu when this becomes available. School Photos: These will take place on 27th of September. A reminder will be sent so that you can be prepared.

Parent Council and PTA: Already this session the Parent Council and PTA have been incredibly supportive. Practical help and assistance as well as a number of resources to assist the school have been afforded. We are always looking for new members to offer as little support as a few hours a year to help the PTA run a range of activities for the children as well as raise funds for the school. Please leave your details at the office if you would like to help and a PTA, and a member will be in touch with you.

1140hrs Some of you will be aware that the authority has been undertaking consultations to help them to prepare for the introduction of increased early years provision by 2020. Do keep an eye on EDCs social media platforms so that you can have your say on how to shape the future of East Dunbartonshire’s Early Learning and Childcare.

Curriculum Newsletter You will soon receive a copy of your class curriculum newsletter. This will be issued via our Groupmail service, but if for any reason you do not receive this please do contact your child’s teacher. Included in this will be information about some of the activities the class will do during the school year. This will provide you with some broad information about the class routines as well as keep you informed about other aspects of the curriculum. As you know we are continually developing a curriculum which is much more responsive to the needs and interests of our children. This means that things may change over the course of the session. It will not, however, affect the quality of the learning that takes place.

Pupil Engagement Our new House Captains can be found on our social media pages. Pupil Groups will come on stream in the months ahead. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
