Sports Clubs

As we fast approach the end summer holidays and with so many sports activities going on throughout the school we thought it was time to revamp and update our sports section.

Our school Football Club used to be organised by Mrs Sharp, a qualified SFA Coach. Usually training takes place on our football field or, if it's raining, the upper school gym on Mondays (girls) and Wednesdays (boys) from 3-3.30pm and is open to P6 and P7 pupils. However, we are currently waiting on some volunteers to take over the running of this most successful club. If you are qualified and are interested please contact the school as soon as  possible. Visit our football page for the latest news from our football team.
During September there is an after school hockey club for Primary 6 & 7. This is run by Western Wildcats as a starter/taster programme for anyone interested in trying out a new sport. Why not give it a go?
Football in our Community
If your child is interested in playing football outwith the school the SFA runs courses throughout the area. Visit their website for more information or contact the Football Development Dept on 0141 578 8431 or email
i-run, you run, everyone in Milngavie runs!
We are overwhelmed, literally, by the number of pupils wanting to join the school running club.
Unfortunately, due to lack of coaches we are unable to sustain the club.
However, the whole school have had  the opportunity to run in the June Fun Run. Volunteers are always needed both for the Fun Run, the Running Club and the junior Netball club, if you are available and are suitably qualified we would love to hear from you.
Running in our Community
If your child is interested in taking up running with an external group, details of the Garscube Harriers Club can be found here:
Active Schools
The Active Schools Network is a team of people working within the school and the wider community in Scotland. Their goal is to offer all children and young people the motivation and opportunities to ‘get active’. In practice, this means that their job is to increase the number of opportunities for all children to get engaged in physical activity and sport. They also try to build bridges with sports clubs and other community organisations to give pupils a ‘pathway’ to continue their participation in sport outside of the school gates. Milngavie Primary School’s Active Sports Co-ordinator is Karen Hill. Karen is heavily involved in introducing new sports to our Milngavie pupils and this year introduced, amongst many other activities, a dance workshop and competition for p7 girls throughout the locale. This was key to the development and set-up of our running club, hockey, golf and many other after school activities for our children. Karen can be contacted by email on or by telephone on 0141 777 3035.
