The Digital Schools Award Scotland is a national awards scheme to promote, recognise and encourage a whole school approach to the use of digital technology in schools.

On 1st November we received a validation visit from Malcolm Wilson who spoke to Mr Graham, teachers and pupils from P4, Code Club and Pupil Digital Leaders. He was very impressed with the school’s programme of progressive knowledge and skills shown in our Digital Learning planners for each stage, and the development of digital skills are related to curricular areas. He said the development of skills at all stages throughout the school in the use of various software and creative resources illustrate how digital technologies are used creatively by learners and teachers to engage with learning, teaching, and assessment, and teachers integrate digital technologies into teaching and learning and provide learning experiences that support the transfer of digital skills across the curriculum.

This award recognises the progression we have made in our continuing Digital Learning journey. It was highlighted that our school demonstrates a commitment to including digital technologies in its work and we have established digital learning successfully as a natural element across their school community, with a clear, strong desire to continue developing the range and quality of digital experiences. Malcolm also highlighted that the pupils he spoke to explained confidently, eloquently and with enthusiasm how they were making use of digital in their daily tasks and enjoying sharing their skills with others.

We look forward to working towards further digital awards and being a mentor school to others who are starting their journey towards the Digital Schools Award Scotland.
